I have been writing with these characters for a few years now. I would pack them away for a time and bring them back out every so often. I got rid of a couple and added in Morgan. The group you see above is now going forward and their story is being revealed. They run an agency that provides support for others like them. So far, this agency never had a name in the story; I just referred to it as “Scutt’s office.”

I am a huge tech geek and would build a website for a dust bunny if I got bored. I also do this for a living and was searching on Godaddy domain auctions for a client. I was running searches for old names when I saw hexavision.com in the list and it hit me! HexAVision should be the name of the agency. I did a few checks to make sure the domain hadn’t been used for some unsavory purpose and it was all tech goodness, so I grabbed it right up.

You never know where inspiration will strike or when your muse will guide you to it. Just be ready to run with it when it happens!

This is from a writing exercise I did during a writing class with Mark David Gerson. Larry may or may not make it into the story. Haley and Genni will.

He’s a little guy no more than 4 inches tall. He is a rare species, half-faerie and half-vampire. There probably isn’t more than a dozen of them in the world. They aren’t in danger of dying off though; the number has remained stable for thousands of years.

They are good, never evil. They don’t feed off of blood. They live on flowers, grasses, and cotton.

They protect one human for the human’s entire life. The chosen one is special and must be protected and watched over.
The vampire faerie doesn’t live with the others as they are scattered all over the world. They find haven with others in their area for support when needed. The vampire faeries contact each other weekly to give updates about their part of the world.

There is one in the United States–New England area. He just moved there because his chosen ones’ family did. He left behind his support group and was seeking a group of faeries locally.

His goal was to locate a traditional faerie court when fate intervened.

He noticed her at the garden center–a classic beauty. The shifter called her Genni. He should have suspected this wasn’t a normal group since the shifter was half-cat and half-human. He could see past the glamour spell that Genni had weaved over Haley.

Genni was looking at some flowers when she felt his presence. “Haley, do you see him?” Haley looked around but didn’t notice any one out of the ordinary. “No, whom am I looking for?”

“I’m not sure. I’m getting mixed signals. Both vampire and faerie from one source.”

“Your Majesty, I beg your pardon, but that doesn’t make sense,” Haley responded.

“Haley, it’s quite alright, I’m just as baffled.” Genni feels a flutter of faerie wings against her cheeks. Startled, she turns to see him sitting on her shoulder.

Larry stands up, puffs out his chest, and announces, “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Larry the vampire faerie!”

“Lawrence, I am Her Royal Highness, Queen Genni Perritstone and this is Lady Haley Brašnić. How is it that we have never heard of you? Please explain yourself.”

“No problem Genni…Umm…Your Majesty”

“If I may be so bold, Your Majesty, I suggest we return to the estate with Lawrence.” Larry interrupts Haley, ”It’s Larry,” he states rather emphatically. Haley gives Larry a smile and turns back to the Queen. “Let’s return with Larry and have the others join us.”

“Very well, Lawrence, come with us.”
